Funded by the 'Tage Vanggaard og Hustrus Fond' Cathryn has got a HILO spinning machine for Design School Kolding researchers and students to develop and design new yarns. This spinning machine, that mimics industry ring spun processes, will allow Cathryn (and other researchers) to experiment with recycled fibres and explore how yarn structure can impact the function of a textile fabric.
Alongside the HILO machine, the funding also provided a student workshop with Sara Diaz Rodriguez from Studio Hilo to build a E-spinning machine. The students first understood the mechanicals of the machine and then could experiment spinning yarns themselves. An exciting methods to learn about the processes of creating yarns!
